Library Promises

Hours of Operation

  • Monday-Saturday 9 am to 8 PM.
  • Sunday-Closed.
  • Closed on all Official Ethiopian National Holidays.

Borrowing Privileges

Members with valid library borrowing account agree to the following.

  1. Members must have membership cards and paid the required fees to borrow books.
  2. Borrowers account is not transferrable.
  3. Borrowers agree to comply to library rules, including keeping track of due dates and ensuring Library has the current contact information.
  4. Borrowers can have up to 5 items on loan excluding textbooks and guides.
  5. Textbooks, guides and special reference books are not permitted for borrowing.
  6. Books must be returned with in 4 weeks.
  7. You may renew books if another member does not request items.
  8. When any item becomes overdue, borrowing privileges are automatically suspended with no refund of membership fee.
  9. For items not returned for more than 30 days, overdue bill for its replacement will be issued at the current cost of the book, plus a 200 Birr processing fee.

At present, the library has a

  • children reading room
  • Digital room for eReaders, audio and video room Internet Servies

  •  Photocopying and printing service
    • 25,000 academic books—organized by a standard library classification system—primarily for secondary school student
    • Patrons have a membership ID and they are allowed to check out books and take them home.
    • Once fully established, we plan to turn this into a model library with satellite libraries to operate in the center of Asella town, and also mobile libraries for users in rural areas in the future.
